Rebecca Gilliland, A-LPC-MHSP
As a counselor, I believe that healing and personal growth happen within a safe, compassionate, and authentic therapeutic relationship. My desire is to create an environment where clients feel heard, understood, and supported as they navigate life’s challenges. I believe that every person has the capacity for growth, healing, and resilience, even in difficult circumstances.
I hold a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Lee University and am currently pursuing my PhD in Mental Health Counseling at Belmont University. I am an A-LPC/MHSP in Tennessee and have completed Level 1 training in Brainspotting. My professional experience includes international school counseling and private practice in Germany, working with individuals and couples experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship difficulties, and life transitions. My approach is primarily person-centered, incorporating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, and other interventions based on individual needs. I believe meaningful change begins with understanding how past experiences shape our beliefs, emotions, and relationships. Through greater self-awareness, self-compassion, and challenging unhelpful patterns, clients can experience healing and lasting growth.
As a Christian, my faith shapes my understanding of hope, healing, and the value of every individual. I believe emotional and spiritual well-being are deeply connected. For clients who desire it, I welcome the integration of biblical principles, prayer, and spiritual reflection into counseling while respecting each person’s beliefs and preferences.
